Layer Groups

Layer Groups

Layer groups (folders) help you organize related layers together. Groups are especially useful for complex projects with many layers.

Creating a Group

  1. Open the Layers panel in the left sidebar
  2. Click the folder icon (next to the "+" button)
  3. Enter a name for your group
  4. Press Enter to confirm

Adding Layers to Groups

You can add layers to groups using drag and drop:

  1. Click and hold on a layer
  2. Drag it over the group you want to add it to
  3. Drop the layer when the group highlights
You can also drag layers out of groups to ungroup them. Just drag the layer outside any group.

Expanding and Collapsing

Click the arrow icon next to a group name to expand or collapse it. Collapsed groups hide their layers but don't affect visibility on the map.

Group Visibility

Groups do not have their own visibility toggle. Layer visibility is controlled individually on each layer, regardless of which group it belongs to. Collapsing a group only hides the layer list in the panel — it does not affect map visibility.

Organizing with Groups

Suggestions for organizing your layers:

  • Group by theme — "Infrastructure", "Environment", "Analysis"
  • Group by source — "Imported Data", "Drawn Features", "Analysis Results"
  • Group by visibility — "Base Layers", "Overlays", "Temporary"

Deleting Groups

  1. Hover over the group you want to delete
  2. Click the trash icon that appears
Deleting a group does not delete the layers inside it. All layers are moved to the ungrouped section of the Layers panel.
