Visibility & Order

Layer Visibility

Control which layers appear on the map using visibility toggles. This is useful for focusing on specific data or comparing different datasets.

Toggling Visibility

Each layer has an eye icon that controls its visibility:

  • Open eye — Layer is visible on the map
  • Closed eye — Layer is hidden from the map
  • Click the icon to toggle between states
Hidden layers are still saved and exported. Visibility only affects the current view.

Layer Order

Layers are drawn on the map in order from bottom to top. Layers at the top of the list appear on top of other layers.

  1. Click and hold on a layer
  2. Drag it up or down in the list
  3. Release to set the new position

Draw Order Tips

  • Put polygon layers at the bottom so they don't cover other features
  • Put point layers at the top so markers are always visible
  • Put line layers in the middle
  • Consider transparency for overlapping polygons

Zoom to Layer

Quickly navigate to a layer's extent:

  1. Hover over a layer in the Layers panel
  2. Click the zoom/magnifier icon
  3. The map will zoom to fit all features in that layer

Layer Panel Overview

The Layers panel provides a compact view of all layers:

  • Visibility toggle (eye icon) for each layer
  • Color preview showing fill and stroke colors
  • Feature count for each layer
  • Click a layer to expand its style settings

Feature Labels

Control whether feature labels are displayed:

  • Global label toggle in Map Settings affects all layers
  • Per-layer label toggle in layer style settings
  • Labels show the feature name if set
